50 TY & 5th year students along with Mr MacCormaic, Ms Cunningham, Ms McHugh, Ms Kee, Mr Walsh, Ms Gallagher, Tracey Faulkner & Rachel Byrne travelled to Italy on our annual school tour last Tuesday night 1st May. Students & teachers had a very busy but enjoyable few days as they visited Verona, Lake Garda, Venice, Gardaland & Florence. In Florence students had the opportunity to visit the ‘Academy Gallery’ (where Michelangelo’s ‘David’ is housed), the ‘Basilica of the Holy Cross’ (the largest Franciscan church in the world where Michelangelo, Galileo, Dante & other famous Italians are buried) & lastly the famous ‘Uffizi’ art gallery (which is the oldest art gallery in the world. It houses many famous Italian Renaissance art by Botticelli). On Sunday morning students also got the opportunity to climb the bell tower of the ‘Duomo’ which consists of 414 steps. A very enjoyable time was had by all & we thank Mr MacCormaic for all his hard work on organising a fantastic trip.
