Post Leaving Certificate


If you want to fast-track your way into employment or need a stepping stone into third level with nationally and internationally recognised qualifications then consider applying for a Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) course.

At St Catherine’s we offer :

  • Nursing Studies Level 5
  • Early Childhood Care and Development Level 5

Nursing Studies Level 5 (PLC) 

This is a PLC QQI Level 5 course. Learners must have successfully completed the Leaving Certificate/LCAP/LCVP Examination or QQI Level 4. This course is suitable for those people considering a career in Nursing or Healthcare. Special consideration will be given to mature students (Over 23) or others who may not have obtained a Leaving Certificate. Entry procedure is by application and possible interview.

Graduates of this course are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities.

 The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and under supervision in a range of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) settings and or to progress to higher education and training.

  • PLC Government levy for (non-medical card holder) €200
  • QQI Exam fee €50 (non-medical card holders)
